The Bear Skin is a community skimo race series for backcountry skiers of all experience levels. Every Wednesday in February at Bear Canyon, we set a course with skinning, bootpacking, bushwhacking, and classic Bear Canyon terrain.

What is Skimo?

Skimo, short for ski mountaineering, is an endurance sport where you climb uphill on skins or bootpacks, and then quickly transition to ski downhill on typically varied terrain. This year, it's been added to the Winter Olympics for the first time since 1924!
